Here in Canada, a used QX50 with about 50-60,000kms (30-40mi) on it runs anywhere between $23,000 to $27,000CAD.

I originally passed over the QX50 because of premium gas but after seeing my colleague's QX50 for over 2 years, the process of osmosis has planted the idea of owning this car firmly in my mind.

I'm going to test drive the car on June 14th, and wanted to ask about a couple of things that you can't get from a dealership.

  • How is reliability of major components like engine, transmission, power steering etc
  • What about reliability of minor stuff in car navi, sunroof etc
  • I've been getting conflicting info about adaptive cruise in the QX50. Some says the QX50 is not capable of it at all while other dealerships say only the highest trims have it.

It is arguably the most bulletproof car Infiniti has ever built. They never break. The engine is super sold.

You could get ICC on the QX50, but only in Tech package. A 2015 model with it would also have Distance Control Assist if it has tech package (DCA is like Intelligent cruise, but w/out a target speed - just braking).

That assumes the great white north versions/options are the same as down here. Eh!

One thing to consider: a 2015 model is the same size as the original EX. A 2016 or 2017 model will have an additional 4" of legroom in the back seat. This makes a big difference in back seat comfort and adds some cargo space with the seats down.

Hey dude! I bought a 2016 and what really sold me was the classy interior and the engine response. It hauls ass. My only suggestion is to make sure you go with a tech package or some sort of package as the base model is pretty plain. The time it takes to make a phone call is kind of time consuming. You need to respond to like 3 prompts before the call actually goes through.
