2019 QX50, going high speed on the freeway the car displayed a “shift system malfunction see dealer” warning and the car would not accelerate anymore, no shift selection shown. So I parked in shoulder, cycled ignition, and the warning disappeared, and went back to normal, only “engine” light stayed on. Three miles down the freeway it happened again. Same scenario, so parked again, then drove it to Infiniti service.
Service department had the car for two weeks and they claim they were unable to find anything wrong with the car, the computer produced no codes, test drove it twice and it was normal, and there was nothing they could do.
Contacted a Infiniti customer relationships and the opened a case, talked to the service department, etc but that went nowhere really. We’ve been told to keep driving it and return to service if it happens again 🤦♂️.
We were driving in a rainstorm that day, it was pouring and had my family in the car so it was somewhat scary. I mentioned the rainstorm to the service folks and they laughed off the idea that water could have anything to do with it.
This is my wife’s car and I’m a concerned having her driving the car as it could be potentially dangerous.
