I posted another thread comparing the QX50 based on exterior styling, but what about the interior? You will see your car from the inside out 95% of the time so its important especially in a luxury vehicle to make the driver not only comfortable but also engaged. An ugly interior can ruin your day to day experience with a vehicle while a good interior can make many men forgive many faults....
QX50:
X3:
Evoque:
Q5:
GLK:
In typical BMW fashion the X3 places last for interior styling, black, black and more black. Very possibly the most uninspiring gauges ever produced. The GLK does not fair much better here either, although i do like Mercedes use of wood and two tone through the cabin, I like the Mercedes vents as they are truely original. However the GLK does get my vote for best gauges.
The Q5 fares a little better than its German counterparts, using materials and tones slightly better than the two other Germans. However the Q5 still suffers from Volkswagen syndrome but does a good enough job of trying to distance itself from its lineage.
QX50s interior looks a little dated what with the copious use of rounded edges however keep in mind this is the same interior and exterior design since 2009. as a nearly 5 year old design the QX50 holds its own very well, the leather looks creamy and the centrestack is not too cluttered. My one pet peave with the QX50 is the screen functions are located so high on the little plateau under the nav screen that it makes using them a little of a pain.
The Evoque wins the interior styling contest as well. Butter soft leather, bolstered buckets front and back and an ergonomic centre stack and controls that make mode switching or radio surfing a breeze. Not to mention the typical British class that shows itself throughout the Evoques interior.
