that is a tough call, to be accurate we would really have to wait and see who the QX50 will be going up against. The competitor prices will have a big part in whether the Qx50 makes the cut.

being the smallest utility vehicle to come from Infiniti, aside from the Q30, it will sell well.
there's a demand for vehicles like this, just look how well the Lexus RX hyrbid sold.
the QX50 being in a segment under the RX is just proof of how attractive it will be

My only concern is that if they try to fit batteries somewhere in the car, the cargo space will diminish even more from what is barely there.

That is a valid concern. I think Infiniti is already aware of the lack of space so I'm sure they would have that in mind when creating the hybrid version. The batteries usually go in the back under the trunk right? Maybe they can cleverly find somewhere else to put them, but I guess all we can really do is wait and see.

actually they can place the battery right underneath the floors and have vertical parts of it come up around where the seats are and center island. Plus this would help with weight distribution ;)

haha yeah thats what i am thinking. a battey is at least a foot if not close. that would take a whack at the ground clearance.

Well if you look at Q50 vs Q50H cargo capacity does take a hit, Q50 has 352L of trunk space while Q50H drops to 247L. If QX50 gets a similar system we shoudl expect a similar 100L drop of cargo capacity or 3.5 cf. Not crazy, but an impact..

You can't really have your cake and eat it too. I think that the majority of people are willing to sacrifice some cargo space in order to have a hybrid vehicle. And if you aren't willing to make that sacrifice, then you can just go ahead and buy the regular gas-powered version.

I'm sure that batteries will continue to decrease in size as time goes on making this less and less of a problem.

Plus what ever space you lose because of batteries you can always make up with getting a roof top carrier, a whole setup won't run you that much and it's like an investment.

yea but a cargo carrier isnt going to fix things if you cant get a big box in the back of QX50. you cant exactly put bits of box on the roof now.

I think that the roof carrier doesn't look very nice either. I also think that it is an invitation for people to try to steal things from you. If cargo space is your first priority, a hybrid vehicle might not be the best choice.

You think Infiniti will ever sell a QX50 diesel? That is one way to get great mileage without effecting storage.

I doubt infiniti would get in to diesel since they have invested much in to the hybrid systems already it wouldn't make any sense.

you do make a good point but it should still be done, even if it's not in america, even europe or china would be good enough
