I am a new owner of the QX50 Hybrid and although I love my new car I am seriously disappointed in the gas mileage. Wondering if it's just my vehicle or if others are having the same results. I have 1500 miles (I've had it 5 weeks) on the car now and my avg. mileage is 18.8mpg. I would say my driving is split to 70% city and 30%hwy. I wish I hadn't gotten the hybrid... on my lease I priced out the same options on both hybrid and v6 and it was $40 more per month for the hybrid. Based on the window sticker estimates I should be getting 26-28mpg and if that was the case it would more than make up the price difference. A few days ago I brought the vehicle in for them to check if there was something wrong with it because of the low fuel economy and they gave me a qx50 3.5 to drive for 2 days. I GOT THE SAME EXACT MPG!!! That is so wrong!! The hybrid should at least be getting better mpg than the 3.5, don't you think?? I am considering going in and demanding a new car in the 3.5 engine or maybe they should make up the price difference to me?? it's $1560 more for my 39 month lease! Anyone have any advice or similar issues... or on the flip side is anyone driving the Hybrid and actually getting the mileage they should be getting?

thats really weird. I know there's a break in thats needed to get it producing the numbers its supposed to and with the miles you have it should be doing that. have you asked the dealer what might be the issue?

You do seem to be doing more city driving than highway driving which could have an impact. Other than that, it could just be your driving style. You will get the best results if you accelerate smoothly instead of jumping off the line.

I am aware of the Hybrid driving style, We have owned a Prius for years. When I bought the car I told the dealer that the majority of my driving was around town and becuase of the MPG listed on the window sticker that was the main reason I chose it. I Should get 26mpg in city. Either of you have the QX50 Hybrid?? What is your MPG?

sticker rating is not indicative of your actual number, your mileage may vary. if you're pulling down numbers similar to the gasser likely means you have a HEAVY foot because the electric power isnt even getting a chance to kick in.

drive easy, theres nothing wrong with your QX50 except for operation.

This is so true, In ideal conditions you should get what they say you should. I guess they should also say under what conditions can you get those MPG's
