I'm driving a Passat TDI diesel. It's doesn't seem that slow off the line, and I just love the torque and acceleration; its a very dynamic feel around town (even though the 0-60 time isn't anything to brag about). Mazda has been promising a diesel.
If we’re talking about the upcoming QX 50, a diesel engine would bring no benefit, the whole point of the Variable Compression engine being to deliver diesel like torque at take-off and gas like performance when cruising, in effect the best of both worlds and with the extra bonus of lesser pollution.
