Does everyone use premium 93 octane on their QX50? What are you using...mid grade and premium, only use premium, only use mid grade?
Can anyone explain the differences on the QX50 with the fuel? It is important to budget during these times of high gas prices.

This is a Good Question to put out there . . .

In my local area, we have 3 choices at the Pumps ( now most have that " I did that " Sticker on 'em )

Regular 87 Octane
Mid Grade 89 Octane at .25 to .45 cents more per gallon than Regular
Premium 93 Octane at .50 to .90 cents more per gallon than Regular

" INFINITI recommends using fuel with at least 91 octane, so that your vehicle will function the way it was designed "
This is the official statement as published - with this said. . .

It seems that 87 & 89 are of not recommended choices, and 93 is overkill . . . LOL . . .

I experimented one time, and filled up with Regular, I felt a reduced performance factor when getting on the QX50 . . .
The VQ 3.7 VHR, it just didn't get as loud and angry as it usually does when the accelerator was floored . . .

When I got to half a Tank, I filled up with 93 Premium to get to balanced average of 91 octane sloshing around in the tank, and noticeably, that loud and angry engine roar returned to normal levels of what was expected when pushing the QX50 to it's limits

Personally, I feel like I'm doing the QX50 a disservice if I under Octane it . . .

The QX50 scoots me through traffic, and performs admirably in all situations during the commute, and on all trips taken

I will reward it back by only using only 93 Octane ~

If it now costs an Extra $8 per fill up compared to the extra $4 it did 18 months ago, well, that's the consequences of well . . you know . . .

I have 2019 QX50 essential I brought it preowned with 13,000 miles, currently I’m at 100,580 miles I only use premium gas ⛽ I’m not sure 🤔 what will happen if I use lower grade my job pays for my gas so gas prices don’t affect me 😼🤷🏾‍♂️

I have a similar experience as LQQX50. I fill with premium, get down to half a tank, and fill with mid-grade ... then get down to half a tank and fill with premium.
Of course, all this juxtaposing of gas grades becomes more relevant if you drive enough miles. In my Altima, I fill up less frequently, so I just treat it to premium.

I've had my 2019 since brand new. It's been pretty low maintenance so far other then oil changes and regular maintenance. I have about 34000km which translates into 21000 miles. It's the Sensory trim. It has everything except white, blue, and brown interior scheme. I've driven the 2020,2021 and so on. You'd be better getting a 2020 because of the refinements they've done to the engine itself. Its a bit smoother. Also android auto and Apple car play are on it from 2020 and beyond. Just another suggestion. Welcome to the community if you do end up getting it.

I'm no mechanic nor a turbo expert but premium 91+ is required for turbo charged engines. If you use lower garde gas, you run the risk of blowing out your turbo. Although the turbo on these engines are set at a low pressure, the risk is not as high as a modded turbo charged car.
