Just curious, has anyone changed the transmission fluid and filter on these vehicles. My wife's 2017 just hit 30k miles last weekend. I changed the engine oil and filter and rotated the tires. I've done a google search and found nothing specifically that pertains to our QX. Anyone done this job yet that can shed some light on it for me.

Thanks,
Eddie

Here's a few Visuals because Pictures speak 1,000 words.

80,000 miles is when the Trans Fluid is recommended to be replaced.

Personally, if the car is shifting good ~ I wouldn't let some place mess around with their fluid changing machine and risk causing an issue I don't already have by sucking out the fluid and messing around internally in the trans that works just fine

Is there a place to check the transmission fluid. I know on my son's Honda the dipstick is hidden down low. Something similar on this Infiniti? I want to check the condition of the fluid and make my plans to change the fluid.

Pull into any Jiffy Lube type place - ask them for Trans Fluid Check

Pretty Certain ~ they'll come back with brownish looking substance on a white stick, compare it to a red substance on a stick, then proceed with their sales pitch for your much needed Transmission Fluid Flush for $189 which is far better than the potential $4,000 for a new trans if don't spend the $189 NOW

I agree ☝🏿 I just got back from Sedona, Arizona I drove from Chicago too Arizona, Arizona back Chicago no issues whatsoever 🤦🏿‍♂️ I’m glad for that cause I saw 👀 so many cars and truck on side of road people have left vehicle cause they stopped so I was wondering 💭 I was pushing it all way there and back 90 mph and over I did check underneath too see if there were any leaks but nothing I have 80,000 miles on 2019 QX50 essential awd I’m see how’ long I can go without any issues 🎃

If you are not familiar with working with transmission fluid, I agree that it is worth it to have a shop take a look - just not Jiffy Lube. Get recommendations from someone in your area that has worked with a reputable independent shop. Independent doesn't mean fly by night - just one that will likely care more about their reputation. They should offer to show you how to check it yourself, or at a minimum watch them do it.

Once you have this feedback, the reference photo above is very helpful. Most manufacturers believe that fluids are "lifetime" or "extended use" - you are better off replacing your fluid a little early than finding out that the trailer you have been towing has fried your current fluid.

Thanks for the answers so far. So, my question still stands, has anyone changed the transmission fluid in a 2017 QX50 or something similar? Is there anything special I should know before I get ready to change ours?

I am not using Jiffy Lube or any of those type places for any oil change as long as I am able to figure out a way to do it myself.

If I was able change my own I would but my thoughts on jiffy lube I wouldn’t go too them I have 2019 QX50 when mechanics were on strike at all dealerships I went too jiffy lube and they told me they couldn’t get oil plug screw out they said it was stripped I told them leave it alone so I left quickly and waited then I went Infiniti they changed my oil with no issues, I even told them about oil plug screw so I just saying me myself I rather go somewhere I know it will be done right but at same time I know it cost 💲 but if you trust jiffy go with them and yes if you think 🤔 it’s time change transmission fluid do it by all means I had 2017 QX70 before I got QX50 I traded it in rode too ruff for me I had limited model
