Infiniti showed off its 2016 QX50 with new styling and a longer wheelbase at the New York Auto Show.

The new QX50 looks almost identical to the Chinese-spec variant. Changes from the previous model include modified bumpers, a revised grille and new LED daytime running lights. There are also restyled mirrors, an increased ride height and 18-inch alloy wheels.

Possibly the biggest change is the wheelbase, which has grown from 110.2 inches to 113.4 inches. That additional space mostly goes towards giving more space to back seat passengers as rear legroom grows by 4.3 inches and rear knee room increases by 3.9 inches.

The interior stays the same mostly, but there are a few more features, like heated front seats and a moonroof. The Premium Plus Package adds GPS navigation, an Around View Monitor and front / rear parking sensors.

That will vary from buyer to buyer, all depends what this has that other year models don't and what you're looking for, plus many other reasons.
How I see it, those exact year end models i'm talking about have enough for the average buyer, 2016 is just if you want MORE and can dig deeper in your wallet for that much more.

Next gen is where bigger benefits will be reaped.

I bought the 2016. Good financing currently (1.9% for 60 months). Got the Premium and PremPlus packages and a couple of factory add-ons. I prefer the longer wheelbase and added backseat room over the 2015. My last ride lasted 14 years (still keeping it for a spare ride).
Checked out the Lexus NX200t, Acura RDX (which was almost my choice), and the Infiniti.

I have a friend that got it. His kids love the rear passenger area, much better than the EX they traded in.

I bought the 2016 QX50 in October, financed it but paid it off after I received a settlement earlier than anticipated.

I am not tech oriented so won't even attempt to address any issues on that. I enjoy the visual cosmetic changes-more legroom in backseat, the front grille, higher up from the ground.

Here is my problem and what I want to warn others about. For whatever crazy reason the engineers designed the driver's side heater
8-12 degrees hotter than the passenger side. I use it obviously for the warmth on cold days but also for therapeutic reasons as I sometimes have lower back pain.

I had the 2014 Infiniti QX50 and the heater was fine. This heater burns me within 5 minutes so I don't bother using it anymore.

I went to the dealership and they checked with Infiniti corporate techs and were advised this is how it was designed. They hooked me up with Infiniti Consumer Affairs and I am waiting to hear from them but if this will be 2 years to a fix I shall trade the car in for an Audi or Acura most likely.

The look is nice, thr drive is fine but if the engineers are this erratic in their thinking I need a different make car.

Sorry to hear that was the case.

Looks like in your case it will be wise to look for a car maker and a car from them that puts a focus on the interior more than others (like Infiniti) do. Have you by any chance started to weight out your options from other brands?
