Looks like the 2020 QX50 comes standard with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. :nerd:

Wonder if they will enable 2019 owners to update their infotainment software. ;)

Probably not. :crying:

I actually reached out to infiniti to ask this question. one of the reasons why I bought this car is that they said that they were going to do a software update to add it to the 2019s. I also have a note into my dealer who said they don't know yet

I spoke with Infiniti corporate and they said they do not believe that they will be updating the software in the car to add Android Auto or Apple Carplay. This really stinks and annoys me more than anything.

I know that I was spoiled by owning a tesla but this just seems like a really easy thing to do via a software update.

I sent an email from the Infiniti Owners site to their Consumer Affairs department. They responded:

"Please be advised at this time we have no information on if or when a Apple Car Play update will be available."

I hope your source had more current information.

I just purchased a 2019 QX50 a few weeks ago. I also own a 2018 Q50. On the Q50 forum many members claim there will never be a retrofit or update to Apple CarPlay or Android for models made prior to 2020.

Jeffpeds - that sounds about right to me. they gotta have a reason for all of us to go out and buy the NEW 2020 now.. :)

IMO, they already know what features will be added to the 2021, 2022, 2023 offerings but they hold them back so there is "a little something" new/better about the newer model.

I hear you. I love the car. So far, no troubles with it and all the technology works exactly as I expected. For me, if there’s opportunity for improvements or feature adds, then all the better. It doesn’t take away from what it is though. It’s a great looking vehicle with a great looking interior and a good feature set.

I consciously bought the 2019 vs waiting for the 2020 because of the deep discount, knowing the biggest difference was CarPlay/AA. “Hey Siri” works fine with the car and gets me most of what I’d want from CarPlay anyways. It’s more of a curiosity for me than a need.

Dollar for dollar, I thought it was the best value for what you got. Now, If I could get some good bolt-on Nismo parts to push another 50 horses out of that motor and get a solid exhaust note, I’d spend the money there rather than on CarPlay upgrades. lol

Exactly! Could of easily waited for the 2020. However getting almost 10k off a 56k SUV and 2k more for my trade than CarMax offered sold me.

Would I like Apple CarPlay? Heck yes...but in the end no way was I going to get this deal on a 2020.

And yes, the interior is great looking with top notch materials. The exterior is markedly different than other SUV’s and looks sweet. Another 50 ponies would also be sweet but I have another vehicle for that.
